The Silenus Tarot™ by Mike Indovina

In Greek Mythology, Silenus was a learned satyr who was skilled in the art of prophesy. Many, including the famous King Midas, would try to capture him and force him to impart his wisdom. He is also said to have been the tutor of Dionysus, god of wine, and even to have aided the gods themselves in their battle against the giants. Each card in this deck is decorated with a scene from Greek Myth. In designing the deck, I tried to find typical scenes that not only matched the meaning of each particular card, but would also allow for a similar composition to the well- known Rider-Waite deck. I wanted the cards to be easily recognizable to anyone familiar with the Tarot, but also to those who may be interested in learning about it (since most books on the subject employ the Rider-Waite designs).

The cards in the Tarot of the Masters deck were inspired by classic paintings by old masters, such as Toulouse-Lautrec, El Greco, and Rubens. According to Rachel Pollack: Not only does the choice of art wonderfully fit the Rider-Waite-Smith images we all know, James Ricklef has smartly decided to redraw them in his own hand rather than simply collage them. The result is a unified deck with wonderful colors and exciting scenes. Because the paintings are themselves so interesting they add extra layers of story -- and therefore meaning -- to the classic cards.

The Ray Tarot by Raywat Punyaratabandhu

The science of Tarot is greatly attractive, I, Raywat Punyaratabandhu, am also fascinated in Tarot and as the drawer of this Tarot I named it “The Ray Tarot” because I’ve really desired to create my own Tarot that is represented by images of people in the present day. My initiation have been strongly inspired by Pamela Colman Smith who drew 78 Gypsy Cards for Rider Waite Tarot as my model. I have thus re-designed her tarot by using pictures of people in the 21st century, but still retaining the same meaning of each card with full respect and thanks to her original tarot.
